Brayard Huggins Press Kit


The other musician’s press kit Huggins saw last year was designed by Pam Rice, a graphic designer, painter, and illustrator based in Chicago, Illinois. Huggins’s musician friend introduced him to Rice last fall, and the two of them got to work on a press kit that would match his talents.

Four Directors Added to CMM Board

The Chicago Maritime Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to the Board of Directors.  After an extensive search and many intensive discussions, CMM welcomes George V. Kisiel, Pamela C. Rice, Kris Habermehl, and Helen J. Kessler to the Board.

Pamela C. Rice — An award winning free-lance graphic designer, Pamela is also a Chicago author, illustrator, and sailor. She leads the group Black Chicago Sailors and was part of the first all African-American crew to sail in the Chicago Mackinac Race.

One of her recent children’s books, When the Brown Bird Flies, recounts the early childhood experiences of a decorated Tuskegee Airman pilot, Jack Lyle. Pamela illustrated Captain Bill Pinkney's children's book Sailing Commitment Around the World, and those illustrations are currently featured in the Chicago Maritime Museum's permanent exhibition on Captain Bill's journey.

A member of Jackson Park Yacht Club, Pamela recently appeared on CMM’s Cable Access TV program Making Waves to discuss her maritime accomplishments in Chicago.
